I have  been teaching high school for 25 years and currently coordinate the Teacher Academy at Central Montco Technical
High School in Plymouth Meeting, PA. Teacher Academy is a one-year dual enrollment program for high school seniors interested in education careers. Prior to coordinating the Teacher Academy Program, I taught English, Art, Graphic Arts & Creative Writing.

I am also a professor of Education and Literacy and currently teach at the University of Pennsylvania, Graduate School of Education, in the Urban Teacher Residency Program, as well as at University of the Arts, where I currently serves as the Teaching Artist Certification Program Coordinator.

In Teacher Academy, I use the arts as both a research methodology and classroom pedagogy. My research explores how pre-service and practicing teachers use the arts as a method of inquiry into teaching and learning. In my work, I argue for a more expansive approach in research that recognizes art making as research methodology and a powerful way to represent research findings. For this work, I received the American Education Research Association (AERA) Teacher as Researcher Award in 2015 and was named a Practitioner Researcher 2018-19 Cadre Honoree by the International Literacy Association.
